    Creekside staff has been working diligently to control Barbed Goatgrass (Aegilops triuncialis) in occupied Bay Checkerspot habitat on Coyote Ridge. This annual grass occupies areas where important forbs (like host and nectar plants) may grow. Notably, BGG seems to form denser stands thus deteriorating Checkerspot habitat.   • Bay Checkerspot Larvae in action

    Here’s a brief video from our Bay Checkerspot relocation efforts from 2013. Here’s your best chance to see these mini-cats dancing! Our translocation efforts to Edgewood Natural Preserve and Tulare Hill resulted in moving almost 5,000 larvae to each site.

  • Hunting the Tiburon Paintbrush

    Creekside staff has teamed up with researchers in order to help us learn more about the endangered Tiburon Paintbrush (Castilleja affinis ssp. neglecta). Laney Widener of the Northwestern University and the Chicago Botanic Garden has been traveling through California collecting samples and updating the distribution of this plant (and a number of Castilleja species).
